Splendour Rumours and the Fuji Rock Festival

The first lineup Fuji Rock Festival has been announced and as usual, the rumour mills start running about who from Fuji will be playing at Splendour and touring. However, I personally don't think Fuji will give that much insight into Splendour.

My reasoning is that since they moved the dates of Splendour in the Grass to the first weekend of August last year, it now clashes with Lollapalooza in Chicago. The weekend before is Fuji Rock Festival so really it isn't as great in terms of timing as it once was for bands to play Fuji the Splendour, especially competing against a major festival like Lollapalooza.

Compared to previous years, last year there weren't that many Fuji acts that played Splendour. I think it was only Ash and The Shins and it was because of this clash.

That said, I hope My Bloody Valentine tours Australia. I just want to see them because I cannot comprehend how they could perform their albums live.

I do think it would be better for all if Splendour reverted to its old dates just before Fuji in July. They'd be able to get many acts off the back of Fuji and avoid a Lollapalooza clash.

UPDATE: Dates for Splendour have been confirmed as has the lineup for Summer Sonic which might led to one of two acts touring down here. Maybe we'll see the Verve since they've been rumoured a fair bit for past festivals. I personally wouldn't mind seeeing Devo, Paul Weller or Spiritualized but I highly doubt we'd get all of them. I guess we'll have to wait for Lollapalooza's lineup to clarify things.

What next?
