The Travel Bug

It's been just over three months since I got back from my North American trip.

Though I don't mind Canberra, I still miss New York. It's probably bordering on obsessive at times with multiple references to the trip or things related to the trip every day (including a craving for pastrami from Katz's Deli in the Lower East Side). I think the only way I will get over New York would be by living there for awhile, maybe a year or two. It probably won't happen in the next year or two but it's an idea that's growing in its appeal.

But more generally, I just want to travel overseas a bit more though. The travel bug has got me and I have an itching to just get on a plane and fly away. It becomes pretty clear when you keep looking at airline ticket prices and travel books very often.

The latest place I've been thinking of going to visit in the future is Iceland in autumn. I would drive around Iceland in a car since it has a giant ring road and hit up Iceland Airwaves (their version of SXSW). It's a bit random but it has a strange appeal. Maybe it's a reverse of why people want to come to Australia.

that hasn't stopped me thinking about many more trips I would like to do soon.I doubt any overseas trips will come to fruition this year (other than maybe a SE Asia trip) but The trips I'd like to do in the next few years are:

Vietnam - Cambodia - Thailand
Seattle - Vancouver - (Sasquatch)
Chicago - Memphis - New Orleans
Argentina - Chile - Peru - Brazil
Tokyo - (Fuji Rock Festival/Summer Sonic) - Kyoto - Beijing - Great Wall - Shanghai
London - Paris - Spain
At the rate I'm churning out places to go visit I will probably have enough trip ideas to last me a decade.

Any place(s) in particular that you'd like to go to?

What next?

have you ever been to the coachella festival in southern california? this is the first time in four years that i'm missing and i'm afraid that i'm going through some withdrawal. it's an absolutely amazing event and i'm sure that you can incorporate other aspects of the west coast of the united states with a trip like that.

It's definitely up there with festivals I'd like to go to such as Roskilde and Glastonbury (at least once) and All Tommorrow's Parties.
